Hi Patty. Thanks! You can get Kombucha at Whole Foods here in Tampa or any of the local health food stores usually have it. It's available for order over the web as well. Right now my favorite is GT's multi-green from Synergy. It's a cold drink, kind of fizzy, and may take a little getting used to, but I love it. :)

Hi Patrick!

I'm proud of you! I need to try juice in the morning, too. To save money from my daily trips to Starbucks, I started making my coffee, espressos, lattes at home. I often suffer from bouts of insomnia even though I stop drinking caffeine in the early afternoon. I'm sure I would do better without ANY at all! :-) I've never heard of Kombucha - where do you get it? Is it like a juicy tea? Is it hot or cold?

Wonderful post, once again! Thanks!

@jack I love the beet juice, it's definitely one of my favorites as well! You're right about the key, I just overdramatize it. ;) I'll still have an espresso here and there, but I'd rather it be a treat and not a daily routine. I do the same with wine, although it's a good thing I don't go around drinking a bottle of wine every day after lunch. That might be a little more noticeable.

@eloy I've had several people suggest the colon cleanse. Thanks for the suggestion. I may have to try it. I just have to get past my own squeamishness about it.

If you can stand having coffee in the house, an organic coffee enema might help you get through the withdrawal easier. Or get a colon cleanse somewhere. Cheers, Eloy

Patrick,

Sounds like we're completely on the same page! When I take the time to juice in the morning (which is not as often as I'd like), then it's as though the concept of coffee doesn't even exist. The recipe I keep returning to is carrot / apple / beet / ginger.

I've cut back from 3-4 cups daily to 1 cup (in the morning only) over the past week or so, and my sleep already feels better. Next I plan to convert that single daily coffee to green tea or kombucha, and then perhaps nothing.

The key for me will not be to quit (I've done it many times before ;) ) but instead to refrain from "rediscovering" coffee (which I have also done many times before).
